UKRAINIAN AND EUROPEAN PSYCHOTHERAPY ALLIANCE TENTH SYMPOSIUM

Our Tenth Symposium, organised by the Ukrainian and European Psychotherapy Alliance, focused on the theme “Freedom, Dignity, and Meaning.” This built on our Ninth Symposium, which focused on four primary emotions: anger, humour, connection, and love. In this tenth edition, we turned our attention to three core aspects and longings of humanity – freedom, dignity, and meaning. These fundamental dimensions of our shared humanity were especially significant for Ukrainians, as the Symposium also marked the fourth anniversary of the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine.

  • Freedom – the freedom to be fully alive and fully human.

  • Dignity – the essence of human dignity; humanity worthy of respect.

  • Meaning – at the heart of our work as Psychotherapists is meaning; giving life its fullest meaning; honouring the deepest meaning of our human life on earth.

These three are humanity’s deepest aspirations and desires.

We were delighted to welcome European Psychotherapists together with Ukrainian Psychotherapists to participate in the Tenth Symposium, held on Friday, February 20th, 2026.

We were deeply honoured and grateful to celebrate our Tenth Symposium with a group of highly distinguished speakers, as well as a live sociodrama. Our distinguished speakers included Myroslav Marynovych, Professor Lutz Goetzmann, Professor Roman Kechur, and Dr. Zvenyslava Kechur.

The sociodrama was conducted by Olena Stupak together with Olena Kuchynska in Ukraine, and Ron Wiener with Diane Adderley in the United Kingdom.

The Tenth Symposium proved to be a rich, moving, and truly memorable event.

More than 1500 delegates registered for the Symposium from Ukraine, and from all over the World. Almost 800 participants from 37 countries attended the event.

This was a free event open to Psychotherapists. This Symposium was built on the World Council for Psychotherapy Statement regarding the invasion of Ukraine, which was adopted by EAP.

All participants of the Symposium unequivocally supported the statement of the World Council of Psychotherapy.
